Any RV Direct or RV Wholesaler Users Out There?

We are looking to get back into the RV lifestyle and are looking to obviously get the best deal out there. That being said I looked at both the RV Direct and RV Wholesalers websites and the prices are pretty good. Wish they carried other brands but oh well. Not saying I will use them but it is an option. Just checking to see if any of you have any good or bad stories.
Thanks,
Dickson and Kathy

I've bought 2 units from RVDirect and just bought our 2014 from RVConnection and all 3 transactions were quite simple and painless. Saved several thousand dollars over the best quote I got from any dealer.

I did have a local Jayco dealer tell me they wouldn't work on a purchase from one of those places. They lost a sale on that alone.

Any RV Direct or RV Wholesaler Users Out There?

If you can deal with the local dealers that won't work on your rig if you don't buy from them, than why not get the best price?
We bought RV direct after the local dealer wouldn't even come close in price. We tried to purchase local, the price was a lot higher for "in stock" with less options. The last straw was when they used the service threat on us also. The same local dealer we bought our first rig from, didn't get us in for service any quicker because we bought from them. After it was purchased they couldn't of cared less.
RV direct was easy and we saved quite a lot of money on a rig we designed ourselves.
As for service, another one of the local dealers serviced it anyway.
I know "support the local guy", and we wanted to, but they are out to make as much as they can, and I am out to save as much as I can.

I have never ran across any of the local dealers telling me that, but I've read several posts where others claim they have. I did just have to have a slide topper awning replaced and Jayco authorized my local mobile service guy to come and fix it on site.

I remember a Boat dealer who use to, tell people that. It all most cost him a franchise, before he changed his tune.

We bought our last 5th Wheel from RV Direct, good pricing, great PDI and delivery.
Very pleased with the transaction.

We are keeping them in the mix but don't like the fact that they don't have any delivery to Pacific Northwest. I would have to go to Des Moines.

You might look at RVConnection as well. That's who I ordered my 2014 through and although I picked it up literally 2 miles from where it was made, they have another facility someplace in CA if that's an option for you

Some dealers create their own MSRPs to make their discounts look great, including one of the two you mentioned. Fortunately, I had access to the real factory MSRPs and when I questioned their fake numbers, the communications quickly ended. The other thing I learned is there are plenty of dealers that will quote prices just as low or lower than RVW or RVDirect. If they are not local, their delivery costs are no different that what the local dealer has to pay, after all it is basically the number of miles from the factory. Or pick it up yourself. In the end, my best deal was just 150 miles from home.

Figure out what brand and model you want, then get quotes from multiple dealers, near and far.

We bought our Fifth Wheel from a local dealer in Omaha (AC Nelsen RV World). We paid much more than we would have through RV Direct or RV Wholesalers. We thought we would get better service from the local dealer. Big Mistake! Their service has been very disappointing. On some service (warranty) items we wound up taking the unit back to the factory (Columbus by Palimino). I thought we were treated quit well by the factory. If I ever buy another RV I will go with the lowest price. I have heard too many stories about the "local" dealer not wanting to provide service after the sale and have experienced it. Good luck.

Don't know if your close to Tucson but Nelson RV is a small shop that moves many many units. They have great prices and deliver. Check out their website.
