Anyone using a Reese Goose box?

We are looking for a new 5th wheel The Ceader Creeks are high on the list. I would prefer not to have to mess with a 5th wheel hitch in the truck bed. I would be interested in hearing from folks who have experience with one. I have spoken to Lippert and the goose box is supported on all their frames.

I looked into them real hard, and ultimately decided to go with an anderson ultimate hitch instead.

Aside from that, everyone I spoke to that has one on their 5th wheel loves them. Everyone mentioned that it was difficult to see the ball alignment from the cab, but other than that, stable as a rock and approved by Lippert.

So I'd say you're free and clear to use one based on my research and opinion.

I have a Cedar Creek 36CKTS with a Goose Box. The trailer weighs about 15k with a 3K hitch weight. We need the truck bed when we get to where we are going.

Simply put we love the Goose Box.

I had it installed as part of the trailer deal so the dealer installed it. (BTW, the dealer DID NOT torque the bolts.) Only issue is a bad valve core, I just replaced it and no further issues.

Hitching is easy as well as unhitching, ride is great, we keep the air bag at about 50 psi and grease it when get ready to hookup.

Taking about 3 seconds to take out a 5lb ball after we unhook is awesome.

We also looked at the Andersen prior to getting the trailer and decided the additional work of bolting and unbolting (torquing) a few bolts then storing the hitch wasn't what we wanted to do.
We can debate this as much as you want but there is a controversy over the warranty of the frame when using an Andersen hitch and there is not with Lippert approved frames and the Reese Goose Box.

I also have one on my 2011 cc silverback 29 rl. I love it it rides great. I realy can't see the ball on my blue ox diamond quick flip. But to have my bed clear is great. use the he'll out of my truck and to pull a large hitch out all the time would suck. I did call ceader creek and they said they have no problem with that set up.

I use the Reese Goose Box and love it, I do have my wife help me hook up because I cant see the ball, but other than that, love it. The ride is great and I have a flip up goose neck so when not in use I can just flip my goose ball down and have my entire bed to use. I had the dealer install it when I purchased my 5th wheel. No regrets.

We are pleased with ours. Bad backs made it a lot of trouble to get our B&W out. Now we just flip the ball over and hook up.

I also have a GB on my Cedar Creek 36ckts.

LOVE IT for all the reasons stated.

I switched away from using an Andersen because the Andersen did not meet all the safety testing standards that the GB does and the simple access to the entire truck bed.

Are you using a long or short bed truck with the Goosebox? I’m considering it for a new 5er with my Ram 2500 4x4 standard bed diesel.

As my signature states “CCLB”... (long bed... full 8”). When you say “Standard bed” are you referring to 6.5’?

Have researched the snot out of the goosebox. Even located a person local to let me look at his and ride around with his. He even let me hook and pull it around with my truck.
I was super impressed with the whole set up. It rode smoother than any trailer ever has on my truck.
I would have bought one if it wasnt for the fact that my TV is a flat bed with a recessed ball. Even then the goosebox still fit in the recessed hole and worked perfect. but because the hole is recessed its impossible to see the hook up and REALLY hard to get lined up under the trailer perfect. Keep in mind I have hooked up goosenecked trailers thousands of times on this truck and usually dont have a problem. But the design of the goosebox doeasnt allow you to see the ball in the recessed hole. If I would have had either one of the flip over balls or a plain gooseneck ball in the truck I would have bought one. I was that impressed with it.
I am sure with time I could have put marks on the flat bed and gotten used to the goosebox.
Instead I went with the Anderson for the same easy hook up and cheaper. But you dont get the nice air ride.

I also have the Goosebox on my 2016 Arctic Fox and it is the best towing combination I have ever had. I have a 2018 3500 HD Duramax truck with the 6' 6" bed. I do use a 5" offset ball adapter that gives me 5" extra clearance from the trailer to cab. It also gives 5" more clearance from the tailgate to the trailer.
The adapter is also about 2" taller which gives me a level towing truck and trailer with no axle blocks or sub frames. I took off the Morride pinbox and sold it, as I love not having a 5th. wheel hitch in the truck ever again. I installed a Draw-tite hide a goose on the truck, and use their 5" offset adapter. Besides the
much improved off road abilities of the gooseneck hitches. They stay latched.
And I like the chains, and they extra layer of safety they provide. Dave-R

Based on what I read here. I added a Goose box to my new 2018 Cedar Creek 38BFD.
I am waiting for my new truck so I have not picked it up. The main driver was not having the 5th wheel hitch in the truck bed.
