Automate onan generator won't start

Hello, looking for some suggestions as to why our generator will crank but not start. It started fine, two years ago when we purchased the fifth wheel but had no need to use it until recently. The propane generator is housed underneath the trailer and we don't know where to begin. Is there possibly a switch of some kind, other than the starter, inside the trailer that we are not seeing to get it started? Thanks for any help. Ron

FWIW best practice is to run your generator every month or two. That avoids this kind of problem.

Read the manual and look at the trouble shooting tips for won't start. If you do not have the manual get the model number off the generator and do a Google search. It's probably on line. There is probably a local manual start panel on the generator. Follow the directions to try that. Come back with the model number, any error codes and what you have done and somebody probably will have have more suggestions. It's hard to say more without knowing that much.

I know this will not help you with your current generator problem but if you had followed the genset makers "generator exercise instructions" you most likely would have avoided your current problem.

Take of the line and make sure gas is flowing . Your regulater needs to be putting out at least 11lbs. Of pressure in the water column. If it is an Onan read your manual and your gen should throw a diagnostic code in the form of a blinking red light. Make sure all your heavy elec draws are of when starting. Run it every month for 2 hrs turn on your AC so you have a load on it . Shut of all loads for 2 min prior to shutting off.

Welcome to the forum,

Perhaps insure that you have an adequate supply of LPG.
Cylinder valves are open?
Make sure the LPG regulator selector switch is in the correct position for the high flow generator regulator, often there are two.

Good luck.

Thanks all. The problem is that the generator is housed Under the rig. Totally enclosed. Taking to a mechanic. Thanks for all the suggestions

Best of luck with that, sounds like a good solution.

Be well.
