Automated Safety Hitch Owners

We currently own a 15K 5th wheel and have begun the conversation of moving up to a better 5th wheel, the cost of that is it will exceed my F350SRW towing capacity. We are looking into the Automated Safety Hitch as an alternative to trading and going with a dually.

I have done a fair amount of research and the opinions of folks who have never even seen it much less used one run the gambit and honestly that's not what I'm looking for. I haven't seen many around nor spoken to anyone who owns one and has actual experience with the ASH.

If you own, have owned and/or have actual experience with one please post and let me know your opinion and experience. Good, Bad or Ugly

Thanks

Have never seen one. Not very popular. I see a lot of disadvantages. MDT or HDT. I sold my dually and got enough to buy my HDT. I have less than 32K in it. That includes singling, flat bed and ET hitch. Don't have to single though. My preference.

This from a tech article on fifthwheelst.com website......and is so true with some folks especially on rv based websites.

**During my research for this article I encountered various opinions about the Automated Safety Hitch System (ASHS) across the broad spectrum of RV forums. One wonders how a product can be sold when so many uneducated opinions are shared about a product that they know nothing about. Why do people do this? Is it fear? Is it the unknown? Is it the desire to feel smart? Or, do they believe that their learned and comfortable way is the only way?**

Products like this has been around for years although this product is lite years ahead of what we used in the past with a TT/GN and 5th wheel trailers.

I had also looked in the ASH before purchasing my F350 dually. The concept is superior in design and performance. The problem lies in the fact that the inventor and manufacturer being the one and same person operates without enough financial backing. You have to put up the entire purchase price before he will even make you a unit. Then he has to have your receiver hitch to modify to put the extra two attachment points on. I talked with him several times. He does not want to carry any inventory of even receiver hitches let alone pre-made units. I also talked with an owner in Michigan that was in the process of trying to get his money back and was thinking he was going to have to pursue using the courts to get his money back.

I am very interested in this discussion. I have been researching the ASH and have spoken with several owners who were very pleased and like the OP the only negatives I have heard are from people who have never used one. I am looking to purchase mine in the Spring. If there are verified negatives (not the "I don't like the look of it....etc.) I would really like to hear them too. To me the concept makes good sense.
