Just thinking ........... could you install another gas spring at the other end of the door as well as repair the original mounting. You could then have two springs with less pressure rather than just one with the higher pressure.

There are two rods on the door already, one on each side.

I'm going to do the other door as soon as the weather cooperates even though it is does not have the same issue, yet. This appears to be an inevitable problem given the size and construction of the door, the strength of the gas rods and undersized mounting bracket.

Nice job and pictures. I'm going to store this thread so if/when mine comes lose again, I'll fix this way.

Also, just a heads up. I have the same model as you do.. Montana 3100RL. Watch when you bring your kitchen slide in. the gas hose on my rig under the kitchen slide would pinch/kink when I retracted the kitchen slide and would cause the gas to the fridg to cut off while traveling.
