Had a bed saver when I had the 5ver. Never needed it but always glad to have it. Money well spent

Hmm, why can't I make that?? Have the metal, welder and associated equipment, very simple design.

How do you like the ride rites I also 2011 ford with 6.7 with a Montana High country 34 foot was thinking about putting the ride rites on this spring

The Bedsaver or the Butches service product or the product MN Tom shows can catch the pin regardless of the reason the trailer dropped. Either product would have caught your trailers pin.

Any hitch brand or jaw type can be high pinned. I've seen every hitch brand out here that its owners reported truck bed or tailgate damage from some type of drop.
Even the top of the line Pro grades SAF Hollands or the Holland Binkley owners have had their truck beds damaged from a errant trailer. Some just like happened to you.

There are several ways a 5th wheel trailer can fall of the hitch plate and damage the truck other than a high pin or a rare mechanical malfunction.

I did that every time since our first 5er, in 96. Pulled a 5er until April ,13. Never had hitch miscue, in that approx. 120K miles.
