Beginning DRV nightmare

We purchased(or, are paying for)a DRV Mobile Suites in March 2018. Guaranty RV, Junction City, OR. One trip with it home 200 miles). One camping trip (160 Miles x 2). Total of less than 700 highway miles on the rig. A trip to Guaranty on April 30th for issues with kitchen plumbing leaks, slide covers. 11 hours into warranty work, turns out the FROM the FACTORY, the frame is bent on one side, causing the door side slide to be uneven, which caused the slide to leak into rig. When the rig was jacked in the back as far as it could go, the slide evened out but the painted accent stripes are now off one inch. Guaranty RV has told us they have done as much as they can, and the frame issue is DRV and frame builders’ problem. DRV says the bent frame is common and fix is to put plates on the frame. And possibly take our RV to Idaho for the fix. And possibly this will take months. No one has addressed the now uneven paint job on one side of the 5th wheel.
With knowledge of the “bent frame” issue, and that this has happened before, why hasn’t DRV gone to another frame manufacturer?
So far, GUARANTY RV, JUNCTION CITY, OR and DRV SUITES, are not taking responsibility for FACTORY defects. Anyone out there a lawyer?

The minute you mention Lawyer to either place, you'll be on your own.....I'd call the place in Idaho and talk to them and try to pin down a time frame

Agreed.
Tactically you are a mile away from mentioning a Lawyer.
Its not the rv dealerships problem or responsibility for a factory bent frame. Once they found that they can only turn you over to the factory. Get all the service documentation that mentions the bent frame and resulting problems and very politely but tactfully begin a conversation with the factory customer service rep.
If you go to the factory spitting fire you will surely be put on the "They can wait months" list.

Well takes DRV off my list. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Perhaps adding the plates will fix it at least well enough that you can sell it and recoup some of your cost. Or maybe, that will fix it to your satisfaction. Hope so.

Contact Trailer Life Magazine in the Resolutions Dept. They will mediate your situation if applicable.

As if buying a new RV isn't stressful enough already. Sorry for your issues. As a point of clarification are they using metal plates to shim the coach frame on the suspension frame to correct for the issue. Or are they going to straighten frame and weld plates to reinforce?

DRV has said a 'bent frame is common'? Is that what they actually said? Do you have the name of the person who told you that?

Yes. Would like to have that information also. I have dealt with DRV over the years as a previous owner of a Mobile Suites. Never a problem with assistance and no major problems with the Suites. I am suspect of the information you received from your dealer. Get in touch with factory and I think your problem can be resolved. As a side note here is some info from other RV owners. Don't take anything off the list based on an unverified account of a first time poster. I'm not discounting his issue but it has to be weighted.

This is a case where letting the Dealer and DRV fix it to the best of their ability without raising hell is the best route to take. Ask if the warranty can be extended, or if the dealer will take it in on trade for a new unit. I've seen a lot of stuff rebuilt and made right by the aftermarket fixers.

Thank you all for your feedback. This is my first “blog” that I have signed up for and I am encouraged that it is so helpful.
My husband has talked to the dealer and to the factory, as late as yesterday. Neither has a proposed solution, or timeline for a fix. When asked for, the dealers’ service rep said that there was no paperwork generated.
We picked DRV because we really thought it was a quality product. And it probably is. However the rig that I am making monthly payments on is defective from the factory. It is sitting on the dealership lot in Oregon, we live in WA state. The factory is 2,000 miles from where we live. We had lots of trips planned and were really looking forward to new adventures. ( we traded our 30 ft. Airstream, so we aren’t new to the rv experience.) we want to be apprised of the decisions that DRV makes to fix the rig. We do not want a bandaid on a problem that DRV has admittedly had before. Plus, the DRV needs to be repainted on the slide side where the accent stripes are now 1 inch off. When this whole nightmare statred, the dealer said they were not sure the repaint would be covered by the warranty?DRV needs to stand behind their product. DRV also needs to up their quality control procedures. We certainly have the warranty for new rig, plus we bought the extended warranty. We don’t know what to expect. To hear that factory has had this issue before, yet continues to use the same frame manufacturer, does not give us a warm fuzzy. I tend to agree with the post about DRV giving us a new rig, fixing ours and selling ours as used. Thanks again. The lawyer comment was a knee jerk reaction from me.

This will get resolved if you contact Trailer Life Magazines Resolution Dept.
They go to bat all the time for RV owners that aren't getting results while under warranty.
Once Trailer Life is involved the MFG knows full well that the incident is published in TL magazine.

I dont think they have driven down the road of relations with DRV to take that kind of action yet. They have got to give DRV a reasonable amount of time

DRV saga

I have an update regarding our DRV Mobile Suites.
My husband received a call this AM from dealership who informed him that DRV was sending two specialists to Them to fix the bent frame issue. Do not know what the specialists will do, but This is excellent news. Have not heard from DRV, but I hope we do. If the “plate” fix is what is done, we certainly want them welded,I assume? Then all we have to get fixed is the paint job on the door side slide, and the DRV will be as perfect as we thought it was When we purchased it!
