I do the same as above. Black tank sensors always work. Grey sensors either work, or on 1/3 when empty.. Still usable. Flush toilet with lots of water. empty when >=2/3 full.

Water, lots of water every dump. Use easy dissolving TP. Try using Happy Camper enzyme, it helps digest and really eliminates almost all odors if used regularly. Very economical.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. We used ice and detergent this morning and it worked by the time we got to our campground. The funny thing is my Hubby dumps every couple of days whether it needs it or not, in fact it's kind of a joke with our family. He says it's free, why not and not that much trouble. I think I was not using enough water when flushing and it was TP on sensor. In 7 years never had this problem before. Thanks to all your good advice, problem solved!! This is a great forum and has helped us many times.

Thanks again,
On the go

Be sure to add ten gallons of water to that bag of ice just as you are ready to leave, then drain at your destination. Fabric sofener for the trip home with 10 gallons of water makes it slick inside and you can dump it the next time you camp.

On the go,

Your dumping your tank to often. Let your black tank fill up to 3/4 or more and then pull the handle and use your waste tank flush to push more out. A lot of RVers are forgetting to let the tanks build up DOWN PRESSURE when they fill up. This DOWN PRESSURE creates suction and a tornado in your tanks and forces a lot more mass out of the tanks. This is what our underground cameras discovered back in 2003. Happy Camping

4th trailer and the 4th one that reads wrong or full all the time. I think it's normal. I can get all mine to work if I fill the tank with water and so a few times
In the case of the black tank sensors, if I flush the tank with the installed system it clears them right up. For about 1 day. Then it's back to not reading right. I don't even bother using them anymore. I know how long we can go before dumping. No worries.

When the toilet burps, it's time to dump.

When the toilet burps as above is my true signal to dump sometime soon.

I got fed-up with the same problem so I went with Sea-level gauges.

I also have SeeLevel gauges. They work reliably after almost 3 years. My previous trailer had standard sensors and they were not reliable.
