Bleach in fresh water tank
I want to sanitize my fresh water tank. My trailer has no direct fill for the tank, fills thru valves only. This would put bleach into the lines but not into the tank itself. How do I do this?

Our 2000 and 2002 DSDP's were like that. But, there was a hose connected to the pump that was for winterizing and could also put the bleach solution into the water tank. Used it many times that way.

When you say thru the valves I am assuming you have a hose connected? Fill the hose with the bleach connect to trailer then run into the tank like normal.

If your overflow tube is accessible you can pour the bleach in using the overflow tube and an funnel. That's how I do it.

THIS^^^^^^^^^^^
Set valving to FILL Position
Pour bleach (1/4 cup per 15 gallon) into hose
Your trailer.....2 cups/60 gallon

This is how I do it. Makes it very easy and clean. After the tank is full I run water through the house system using the water pump. I like to get the tank full so the solution is near optimal. Leave it sit for several hours, drain the tank, flush the system by setting the water to house, refill the tank and drain it (as often as you want to). Note - letting the water sit with bleach in it the chlorine will evaporate out so flushing more than once is not necessary IMO.

Correction to amount......my Math was double
S/B 1 CUP
(2 cups would be correct for 120 gal capacity)
Dang higher math!

I agree with the fill through the hose. That also disinfects the hose. Personally I seldom use bleach. I use hydrogen peroxide. It is cheap and you do not have to flush out the system afterwards. Pump it into the lines just like normal and let it sit.
I have been told that peroxide comes in dark bottle because exposure to light turns it into water so there is no need to flush.

Just one more note: If you use bleach do not use any of the scented varieties unless you want perfumed water for a while.

Hydrogen Peroxide purchased at stores is NOT strong enough to 'sanitize'
It is ONLY 3% solution.
50% solution needed to even begin to actually disinfect on par with household bleach.
50% solution NOT available to 'general public'
On a chemical level 3% hydrogen is not the means of sanitizing an RV water system.
Household bleach OR Sodium Dichlor (pool supply) for sanitizing

If you hook up to city water that is chlorinated is there any need to sanitize the system further?

Yes. At least I would once or twice a year. Damp dark places are places for things to grow. Flushing out the system with bleach will get anything growing in the unused but dark and wet tank.
