Cannot open Microwave vent

I have a buddy that just bought a 42 foot Landmark fifth wheel. The microwave is vented outside but neither of us can figure out how the vent on the side of the rig opens. It is as if it is locked shut. Anyone know the secret?

I would post a picture but the rig is not near me at the moment.

Go outside to the vent. There should be two small tabs on the lower corners of the vent that are holding them closed. I use an old awning rod to reach the tabs to move them.

You may have the new type vent like our new cyclone 4100. Ours you physically have to snap open by prying out the two protrusions on the bottom of the flap w/ your fingertips. I didn't want to break anything by using a screwdriver but probably be a little easier w/ a soft pry stick like you use for windshield work

My buddies has two tabs about one inch long on each side of the vent. He has them all marked up by using a screwdriver to open and then gave up. To me it looks like they should pull down. Is this what you are speaking of? Do you have a picture of yours? We hate to break something.

Thanks.

Sorry , don't have a picture, but that sounds like it is the same. I think you have to push up on both tabs at the same time as you pull outward . I've only opened it once, and can't remember for sure until I do it again for this season. We'll be RVing this next weekend so I will add another answer this next weekend .
