Can't believe it

So I was just casually looking on E-Bay today. I have been wanting to get an inverter Genset to go along with the new trailer. I have been watching the Champion brand and everything I read about them is good. Retail is somewhere around 850.00 or so. I had seen a seller list them for 686.00 a couple days ago. He only had 6 and with one left I was really tempted but hesitated too long and it was gone. I thought crap I will never find them that low again.

Today, as I was browsing them again a new seller had 6 for sale and was asking 686.00 the same as the other seller a couple days ago. I thought just for sh*ts and giggles I would make an offer of 575.00 which he immediately declined. I thought hmmmm so I countered with 610.00. Low and behold! He accepted! With free shipping to boot! This is the Champion 75537i which is rated at 3100 watts startup /2800 watts continuous. With E-Bay having a guaranty for being as represented, I feel entirely safe with this purchase. Comments???

I've only used eBay once, and that was probably ten years ago. I do have some friends that are in there all the time and love it! Congrats on the deal and hopefully everything works out!

If this generator uses a 4 cycle engine once you put oil in the crankcase you generally can't return it for refund to the original seller via UPS or FedEx Ground. If you have an issue you can find a local warranty service point to resolve any issues, but you will have that hassle. The primary problem with this type of generator is that they are much noisier than the ones made by Honda and Yamaha that are well sound insulated and quieter that RVers generally go with.

According to specs this inverter genset is just as quiet as the Honda 2000i @53db to 59db. And puts out more watts..............

I stand corrected on the noise comment, this is certainly not one of the cheap open frame ones that I had incorrectly assumed you were asking about.

It looks like you got a great price, Champion sells it direct to consumer on Amazon for $ 976

It is a quiet generator, but not as quiet as a Honda.

Champion list there sound level of 53 db with no load. Great if you just want to watch it run.

Honda is 53 db at 1/4 load.

A Honda eu3000i is quieter then a eu2000i, just lots more money.

Email Champion and they will supply the real numbers. Others have.

Still a great deal for 3000 watts.

I don't have a dog in this, but...in addition to load, the other characteristic for sound measurement is distance; sometimes only mentioned in fine print, if at all. 53dB at 100 ft. is not the same as 53 dB at 50 ft.

I shipped two Champion 2000's back to California to Champion by Fed Ex for repairs on Champion's bill. All I had to do was drain the oil and gas. I still had the original boxes so that helped. Champion paid the shipping. I had the two for at least a year and together would not run 15K A/C. Now they do!

I have a Champion 3100. Works very well. Good quality fit and finish. I have used several Honda gennys and respect their quality. For the price delta and value the Champion got my dollars.

As for buying via eBay, as long as the seller is established and has good reviews and feedback, they are likely ok.

Costco has the unit currently on sale as well I think with free shipping. I bought mine via Costco last time they were on sale.

Buying my Champion on E-Bay was no big deal. They have a policy if the product received is not exactly as advertised you will be re-embersed 100%. First time sellers are like first time buyers..........you have to start sometime.

Yes, but according to the Honda website they are measuring at 9 feet vs Champion measuring at 23 feet.

I have the champion 3100 and while not as quiet as my buddies Honda3000, it is about on par with my Yami 2000. I bought mine from Costco and had a problem with surging after the five hour break in period. I sent an email to Champion and within 2 minutes they emailed me back with an option to fix it or send me a new carb. New carb arrived in less than a week. Great customer service and at 1/3 the cost of the Honda.
