Carbon Monoxide Alarm Question

My Carbon Monoxide Alarm is due it's 7 year replacement. I found Model #CO250RVA for abuot 30 bucks. I also found #CO250B for about 17 bucks. Same size and looks the same.

Does anyone know of any differces between the two?

Thanks
Dave

They both have a 10-year warranty and the same features. The RVA model is "RV approved" so I'm guessing that's why they charge almost double. Could be it's more vibration resistant or something, but I have had success using regular smoke detectors and CO detectors for years. If it's battery operated and not 12v hardwired, I'd feel safe sleeping with the $17 version myself

Here are the spec sheets/brochures for both models.

CO250RVA...10 yr warranty and RV approved
CO250B.......5 yr warranty

I'm good with the lower priced one.

CO alarms have different sensitivity.

The less expensive model will prevent the loss of life while the more expensive models prevent longterm health issues if there are low levels of CO..

A couple years ago I dug deeper into CO monitoring. The conclusion: I wanted something more sensitive than the typical detector (Our coach already comes with one of those). You may not come to the same conclusion. If you do, though, the Kidde KN-COU-B is a more-sensitive "consumer" model. Details on the KN-COU-B are at this link. By comparison, it is expensive: $85 online, at the moment.

Unlike the smoke detector, neither the came-with-it nor the KN-COU-B have alarmed in the three years we've had the coach.

It is a safety item plus it is cheap even being replaced every 2 years instead of 7 like you have got from it. I don't know the differences but I would not go cheap to save $20.

I have an older (1985) resurrected MH that has no alarms of any kind... anybody have recommendations for good smoke, CO and Propane alarms?Or know of ones to avoid?

I know that the propane alarm needs to be mounted at floor level (propane is heavier than air), and smoke alarms should be mounted high...

I think I'd prefer +12 powered... or are units with internal batteries preferred?
