Cardinal VS Montana

I'm helping my brother find a 5th wheel. There are 2 in his area he likes. One is a 2005 Cardinal and the other is a 2005 Montana? Both have basically the same floor plan, both are approx. 31' and have 2 slides. They also have Artic packages which I'm learning is not always much more than some heated tanks. . He is planning on full timing for he and his wife. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

On a 15 old year trailer wear and tear and what has been replaced will be of concern.

Sorry math is not my strong suit. In the rv park we spend summers there are lots of very nice 12 year old trailers.
Boils down to personal prefences on cosmetic things.

I don't think there were any significant differences in overall build quality between those 2 trailers in 2005. Given that the floor plans are the same and they are similar quality trailers, I would look at which one has the better axle ratings, wheel/tire size, pin box quality, roof type/condition to make the decision.

Yep, about the same build quality. I would buy the one with the least amount of wear, it would boil down to which one looks the best and has the fewest cabinet doors falling off / apart-stuff like that.

If everything is equal the Montana is probably a tiny bit better than the Cardinal. I am thinking the Montana might have a better frame.

I thought the frame on the Montana was a bit larger, 12" on Montana and 10" on the Cardinal.

If not, that is good to know.

It depends on the size of the 5th wheel. Smaller 5Th have 10" . Mine is a 10 " and has 35,000 miles towing all over . No cracks no problems . It is not so much the size but how well the steel was made .

Montana didn't switch from 10" to 12" frame until about 2014. The 2012 I just got rid of had 10" frame. Our 2018 Montana has 12".
