Carriage Cameo options questions

Since being disgusted with the current offerings of supposedly better 5th wheels, I've heard the name Carriage as a better older models. In the Cameo is there an option, or standard equipment, of dual pane windows and/o generator prep and generator?

I have located a 2011 brochure but there is no mention of them.

I've seen cameos with and without the frameless windows. Can't say I've seen to many with generators on board. Most carrilites had gennys

I've seen Cameo's with generators and with dual pane windows. Looked at a few prior to purchasing what I have now.

Our 08 Cameo has the front compartment with a screen panel for the generator exhaust and came with a Transfer Switch which I promptly removed. I have a Honda 3000iu which I set outside and just plug directly into the power plug port.

I believe the Carriage last model was 2010, so you are looking at a 8 year old fifth wheel or older. We like our's, but it is looking outdated compared to newer models.

Carriage went out of business with the 2012 models. Dual pane windows were an option as was generator prep/generator.
The model line was carried over as the Lifestyle brand (a division of Evergreen) which went out of business in 2016.
Lifestyle units were identical to Carriage Cameo with some improvements. The biggest one being that they moved the slide motors to the middle of the drive shaft instead of the ends.
I had a 2011 Cameo and traded it for a 2014 Lifestyle LS36fw that I ordered. Its been a great rig and is very well built.

We had a 2011. It had frameless dual glazed windows and a generator. The generator was dealer installed. It was a nice trailer, but I don't think it was as nice as our Solitude.

If you notice a trend carriage cameo, carrilites....many many of them still serving and logging miles on the highway. How many new 5th wheel units will still be in service in 8-10 years. Prob not to many. Most that I've spoke to that went to lifestyle wish they had there carriage back. Granted there are exceptions! Just my observation and opinion.

I would suggest you check out the Carriage/Lifestyle Owners Group: https://carriage-lifestyle-owners.com. They have documentation in their files and can answer any questions you might have. We previously owned a 2011. It was a great unit, had dual pane windows and generator prep plus many other options.

We looked at a '08 Carriage CarriLite a couple years ago and were very impressed with the build quality and how well it held up as it had been lived in full time. It had a generator and dual pane windows. When we finally sold our previous 5er the Carriage was long gone. It only lasted about a week on the dealer website before someone snatched it up. We purchased a used Lifestyle Luxury RV and are in love with it. They're solid, beautiful rigs. Agree with all jdpm said too.

Going on 2 years with our used 2010 Carri-Lite. 1.5 years full-time. No problems. At all.

From about 2010 on, I'd say most Carriages had the dual pane window option. From at least 2010 on, generator-prep was standard on Carri-Lite, not sure about Cameo but it was definitely an option.

Also, the Lifestyle trailer was a near exact copy of the Carri-Lite, not the Cameo. They are similar with the big difference being the Cameo is 96-inches wide and Carri-Lites are 100-101 inches wide. The Carri-Lite and Royals International were the top of the Carriage range.

Yes Royals International are best of the best. They stack up even today to a New Horizons or spacecraft. Very rare though only a few a year ever built. Carri-Lites are no slouch. Very nice indeed.

Had both a 2009 Cameo and 2010 Carri-Lite loved them both!
Just got back into the 5th wheel market after years of a diesel bus and it was VERY difficult. There is nothing like those rigs in those days, unless you spend a crazy mint and even then I'm not sure. We looked at everything our big deal was no dually, have a new 3500 Ram with Aisin that is as far as we wanted to go with our truck. Finding a rig like the old Carriage products in the weight range was difficult to say the least. We literally looked at everything in the weight category including older Carriages. The problem we had with older Carriage rigs is that we could not find one that by now had not been "rode hard and put away wet" for years! So, that makes it no better than today's new products by the time you resurrect them. Good luck we feel your pain... FYI we had dual pane windows in both rigs and virtually replaced them all for leaks and both were factory set up for a generator with auto gen start, but we already had a portable Honda.

Besides width, the other big difference between Carri-Lite and Cameo is ceiling height. Carri-Lite have a taller ceiling throughout. You can look at the roof profiles and see the difference. Both built to the same high standards though.

Yes, it will continue to get even more difficult to find a 'good one' They are out there but it takes time and persistence to find them. We got lucky and found a 1-owner that had been in an RV park since new (no towing miles) and had only been used a couple of times a year!
