Carrier Air V

Hello everyone. My name is Stacy and I own a 5th wheel. When I bought it I was told the central unit ran. So after a few days replaced thermostat and it did nothing. I took the cover off and noticed there was 7 color coded wires just hanging and can't figure out where they go to. It's a Carrier Air V and so far I can't find anything about it or what may be missing. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Carrier on my trailer along with the original installation and operation manual. They are no way as comprehensive as the above PDF. Bounce back to me if you think it would help.

Itinerant, thanks for the posting. I've also saved it to my computer.

When you say you took the cover off do you mean inside the 5th wheel or on the roof? I have pics of the wiring from the roof with cover removed which looks like the images in the pdf.

Fergie, tell us more about the beginning,,, someone said the unit worked, then you said you replaced the thermostat,,, Question,,who took off the wires and attached them to the new thermostat you said you replaced. You also said it did nothing after you replaced the thermostat. Dose the new thermostat have wires on it right now.

When I bought it I was told that the central unit worked but they didn't use it because it would cost too much so they installed 2 110 units in one big window. I took those out and decided to replace the thermostat on the wall because half of it was missing. So I did and seen it was lit up with red. I pushed cool and green light came on and still nothing. I took off the inside cover and found 7 color coded wires (same ones in my thermstat) just hanging. I know they should be attached to a terminal but still looking for it. There's no need for me to worry about the heat because they covered over all vents but 1 with locking wood flooring. So as of now that is what I'm still searching for or buying another control board..

I would look hard at installing a mini split unit in it. It sips electricity, your ac is a hog. It also is noisy and seems difficult to get parts. I put a 110v 12k unit in our Teton and really enjoy it.

Doesn't use duckwork. Got mine from HighSeer.com. If you have a bumper on back, simple to add outside unit. Inside goes on wall.

I gather yours is controlled by a wall mounted T-Stat.. My Carrier used an I/R remote and the T-Stat was part of the ceiling unit (the sensdor is a small yellot "Tit" like thing that sticks down through the cover.

Ducted or not is a matter of which ceiling and connectunit (Pelum) you uuse, has no effect on operation or wiring.

7 wires... about right.

Fan low/high, fan on/auto, two for the furnadce and one for cool or idle.

Fergie I wish I could help you more,,I have two Carrier "V" units. I have NO thermostats I have a hand held clicker that I point at the celing units to control cooling heating , fan high/low. My owners manual dose not show any wiring for a wall thermostat. Sorry I couldn't help further.

BTW I have a dealers list of authorized Carrier service centers, if you want the one nearest you let me know
