Changing Tank Drain Valves - Elec or Cable

The black and gray tank drain valves on my unit are under the trailer. The two gray ones are also under a slide. I have been using a broom handle to work the valves, but I still have to kneel down on the ground to see the valve handles. I want to change the valves (2 gray 1 1/2" and 1 black 3") to either electric or cable.

Looking for the others to share their experiences and thoughts about this project.

Our galley drain is under the kitchen slide, but I just open it before putting out the slide if we're staying somewhere more than a couple of days and leave it that way until we're leaving. Otherwise I close up the slides before draining everything and leaving, so I've no problem with it's location.

I wouldn't go electric; I've seen too many problems. That being said, I'd keep them manual, with a long extension rod. Cable units are usually fine, but not always.

Go to a truckstop tell them you want a 5wheel pin release tool it would work great for your valves. It is metal or aluminum about 3ft long with a t handle and a hooked end. They are used to uncouple the truck from the trl without having to reach under. Inexpensive and will last longer then you will be camping.
