We've had the RV'ing bug on hold for several years while we get the last rug rat though high school and off to college (hopefully). For the last 10 years of so I've been admiring my parents '92 Collins, 32 ft 5th wheel. Lately they have discussed letting it go and the Mrs. and I have started to think it over. Normally I wouldn't consider it because it's a "wide body" at 8.5 ft, has a GVWR in the ball park of 14k, which isn't all that bad I suppose, except we would be towing it with a 75 Ford F-250 (the same one they used) at least for the time being and it doesn't have the full slide we'd like to have, it only has a couch slide. But the condition is like new and I'm sure the price would be right.

Are there many Collins owners here on the site? Are your units holding up well? How hard is it to get replacement parts?

It's a beautiful unit with low miles and has been well cared for.
All these questions and more have crossed my mind.

Thanks everyone.

Kyle,

I wouldn't worry too much about parts availability for the Collins fifth wheel, most of the systems and equipment in any RV are made by other companies and parts are usually available at most RV dealers. Unless you were so unfortunate as to be involved in an accident and need body panels, end panels, decals, etc., you should not have any difficulties.

I'd say get the Collins and enjoy RVing. If something quits working, more than likely it would be easily repaired.
