Columbus 5-r?

I would like to know what people think about the quality of Columbus 5th wheels. I'm not interested in what you have unless it is a Columbus. I only want to hear about Columbus. Thanks.

I see that they have done an update on their line at midyear 2016, so if you are looking for a new one, be aware that some 2016s are built like the 2015s and don't have the new color scheme and other features.

You might want to look at the Columbus Owners Forum and/or their Facebook page. I have a friend who has one and he LOVES it although it has not been without issue. Most component related such as the leveling jacks.
His rig is currently in the shop for frame repair in the pin box area. The rig was getting a ripple in the sidewall near the bedroom slide and the pin box chin area trim was becoming deformed due to metal the frame not being stiff enough on the bedroom slide side.
He mentioned to be that several on the Columbus forum have their units even go back to the factory for some structural issues.
Granted all brands have issues and maybe some more than others. However, what can make all the difference in the world is how the manufacturer handles the issues. My buddy has had nothing but praise for the way his dealer (non-selling dealer at that) and Forest River/Columbus have handled the issues.
The Columbus is a lot for the price provided you shop hard and get a good deal....mid to upper $40's.
I actually went into a Cedar Creek today which is a brand that always get high praise from owners on the forum. However, it cost more and the Columbus look s a lot better on the inside. Good luck, Phillip

We have a Columbus 320RS have used it for 2 season's even stayed in the unit for the winter while I remodeled the house.

Have had no major problems and the minor problems have been taken care of by dealer.

We bought a barely used 2013 Columbus 320 RS earlier this year. It is our 4th camper, 3rd fiver and by far the nicest rig we have owned. We lucked up and stopped by the dealership we had been shopping for a new unit the day it was traded in. Turns out, the previous owner had bought it to live in while traveling for work. He discovered it was way too much camper for his needs and traded it for a small class A. He had it ordered with just about every option available. Washer / dryer, auto satellite, 6k Onan generator with transfer switch, 2nd AC, dual fan-tastic fans with rain sensors, outside tv and stereo, trail-aire air ride pin box and several other little neat additions. We were about to pull the trigger on a new FR Wildcat when the wife discovered this unit sitting near the service department. We ended up with this rig for about 2k less than we would have paid for the Wildcat we were looking at. It seems to be a very well built, solid unit. We have had two long trips and several local runs with no problems at all so far. We are part of the Columbus owners group on Face Book, all the members seem pretty passionate about these units.
