Well its been 4 years and change since the change to a class A. Ok, ok, I tried it......should have never gotten rid of the Alumascape. We are going back to a 5er. Moho's are nice, but nothing beats a good truck and a 5er............presently looking for a truck.

Good choice - I really wonder how many folks have reached that conclusion --- and were just too proud to admit their error in judgment or the fact that it cost a LOT more then they thought to run those beasts besides gas or diesel. Congratulations (Now, let the fire and brimstone begin )

Went to the Houston RV Show this past Saturday. There sure are a lot of choices to choose from. If automatic levelers had been on my old 5er, I would have kept her. Oh well. They have them now. Who knows.

I guess I will be the first one to join in the fray on recommending a truck.
First and foremost how big of a 5er are you going to pull? This will determine what size of truck you should buy.
Second will the 5er have Hydraulic disc brakes? If so the new available brake controllers that are becoming standard on the new pick-ups trucks will not work. You will need a Brake Smart or some other type of controller.
Third will you buy new or used? Again the options are great out there.
Fourth will this be a diesel or gasser?
Now I am partial to the Cummins engine and to me this is what will pull the best. Since it is an in-line 6 and develops it torque at the lower end of the torque range.
I would review this buying guide on diesel trucks and what to look for. http://www.turbodieselregister.com/magazines/buyersguide.phtml
In case you have not heard or read the new 2011, 1 ton Dually truck available in 2nd quarter. Will be rated to a GCVW of 30,000 lbs and 800FT lbs of torque with a maximum of 350HP. This will be in a 6spd automatic transmission only with a 4:10 to1 rear end.

The IBCs (Integral Brake Controller) on the new Ford/Chevy WILL work with electric over hydraulic trailer systems, but the actuator may have to be changed. Don't depend on the truck mfg to be right, or the trailer mfg to be right--check the forums for the answer for the the combo you are thinking about.

We are gettin REAL close to retirement so the rig/rigs will not be new. We just sold our old tow rig 6 months ago , 97 Dodge CTD dually, with a wicked 12 valve (375hp/650tq). You know what they say.......hind sight!
We will be looking for a late 90's. early 00 S/cab dually. Havent decided on gas or diesel yet, depends on what we find. The 5er will be of the smaller size.......26' to a max of 30'. Our HR Alumascape was a 26RKS and was perfect for us, decent living area, not to heavy, and good quality, but the DW had to have the MH, so we traded up. We will have a swivel wheel extension on the back with the ElectraGlide on it. We are also into off-road with the Scouts so we will also get a Slide-in Camper for that segment. Been lookin at trucks...................so many to choose from.

Have the DW drive the rig in town and park it.
