Convert to disc brakes...worth the cost??
Has anyone converted their electric drum breaks to the hydraulic disc break system? If so would you say it is worth the cost?

Yes, disc brakes are maintenance free unlike electric drums that need to adjusted often to be effective.
Disc brakes when hot expand towards the pads, drum brakes expand away from the shoes.
Disc brakes will wipe water off, drums capture water.

Absolutely, Positively worth every penny. Much, much better braking. If you drive it once you will never go out again without it.

one would think that kind of conversion would have to be done in a shop with access to welders, grinders, and maybe a plasma cutter, I would bet the cost might be around $700 and axle, that's including parts and labor, am I to low or to high on that cost ?

It looks like a kit runs about $1100, so I'm thinking 2500-3000 total. Just a guess.

one would think a 31 foot fifth wheel would have a little bit more axle than 3500 pounders, I'm at 38 foot toy hauler, 14,400 pounds empty with three 7000 pound axles, and that looks like a complete bolt on kit, I would still have the brackets welded after bolting them on, but that's just me, over kill every thing, so my wife says

I didn't see any disk break conversion kits at Eastern Marine, but an after thought on the e-trailer and my over kill attitude is that the 13 inch breaks should be more like 15 inch and vented in stainless steel

I just did mine myself got the whole Titan conversion kit 13" rotors Actuator lines and calopers 1,750. You will need to replace your old backing plate studs with longer ones. Easy to do. I am no great mech but if you go slow and have an average amount of grey matter you can do it and save over a thousand bucks in labor. Titan is now owned by Dexter . Kodiak also sells disc brakes. Just get the Titan Actuator there is no lag when you step on the pedal. Some actuators have a lag between stepping on the pedal and brakes coming on. The difference in braking is comparable to a VW and a Ferrarri drag racing. You won't believe it !

Yeah, I just finished mine myself a few weeks ago and the braking difference on my 13,500 lb trailer is night and day.
I went with the full Titan kit as well. I purchased from Home and paid $1450 including shipping (to a local shipping company).
I can't speak highly enough about dealing with Jim at stopyourtrailer.com.
Do it, you won't be disappointing and you'll wonder what took you so long.
