I changed the electrical system in my trailer from 30 amps to 50 amps. As it turns out, it was a relatively easy project.
I removed and discarded the existing panel box and installed a new Iota IDP-240 AC 50 amp RV Fuse Distribution Panel that I picked up on eBay. It looks like this:
I also added a Marinco #6353 50 amp shore power RV inlet connector that looks like this:
I made up a 50 amp power cable to mate to the new inlet. With the exception of the main breaker and some miscellaneous hardware, everything I used for the conversion was bought on eBay.
Now when my better half wants to run an electric toaster and electric coffee pot and run the microwave while the water heater is on 110, she can do it without having to turn something off.
I put the Air Conditioner (
with heat strip) and the receptacles on the right side on one leg and the water heater, the GFCI receptacles, left side receptacles, refrigerator, and microwave on the other leg. Might need to stroke this some to get an even load balance.
