cracked front cap 2004 cougar 5th wheel
I HAVE A 2004 5TH WHEEL TRAILER THAT HAS A CRACK ABOUT 18 INCHES LONG FROM THE TOP DOWN, WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS HAD THIIS HAPPEN AND HOW TO FIX. DONT KNOW IF THE FRONT CAP IS FIBERGLASS OR PLASTIC. IF IT IS FIBERGLAS I WOULD TAKE TO A BOAT REPAIR SHOP BUT THE PLASTIC I DONT HAVE A CLUE AS HOW TO FIX IT. CAN ANYONE HELP WITH THIS.

I would think what ever the material is if you have a favorite local body shop, he would be able to advise you and more than likly fix it for you and repaint it.

You are right about fiberglass repairs, boat or auto-body shop. I doubt it is plastic, but if it is, here again an auto-body shop can "weld" the crack full, making it just as strong as original. I would suggest finding out why it cracked, so you can take action to prevent a future occurrence. Keep water out of the crack to prevent water damage. Even a piece of awning repair tape will seal the crack against water leaks until permanent repairs can be accomplished.
[U]Do not use a sealer containing silicone[U] to seal the crack. Silicone doesn't hold well and the residue it leaves is hard to remove, little else will stick to the residue.

If you don't read them, then don't respond! As a moderator you should have a little more cooth.
Now back to the OP. We had a 2009 Cougar, the front cap was fiberglas. You could have picked up a rock, or something while traveling at some point for the crack to originate.

Most I've run across are an injection molded polymer like what golf cart bodies and even many auto/truck bumper covers are made from. I believe ClubCar refers to it as ArmorFlex. If it is, then the only product that will work is made by 3M - it's a 2-part type of epoxy specifically for bumper cover repairs.

Fiberglass is easy, that's a no brainer there.
Plastic, polypropelyne, and PVC can all be welded. We have a plastic "welder" in the shop that we use on stuff like that. It's really nothing more than a highly directed heat gun and you use the appropriate filler rod to repair the crack. It's done exactly like TIG welding. You gotta be careful when doing it as it's real easy to burn the surrounding material. It works well on thicker plastics, but thinner stuff can be tempmental.....plastics warp very easy.
