Don't compare it to the original Carriage.
Crossroads, or rather their parent Thor bought the trademark at auction when the Original Carriage corp went bankrupt.
If you want the reliabilty and luxury of a Carriage look at Lifestyle, or go buy a used model.

A couple in our Park have a new one been to service center twice for warranty work. They seem happy with it.They traded there Columbus 5th for the Carriage.Sounds like the Columbus was nothing but trouble that's why they traded.

2016 Carriage 38SB

This 5th wheel is great. I love the split bath plan and three levels to increase the headroom in the shower. I think Crossroads did a great job on this.

I traded from a 2015 Fuzion 404 toy hauler.

The Washer and Dryer have a connection in the bedroom closet on the driver side. It is covered and not obvious on the floor. I don't think I'd recommend trying to put any in there.

Carriage was replaced by Lifestyle. But Lifestyle was purchased by Evergreen and they changed them this year. The old, great Carriage / Lifestyle frame and construction won't be made anymore - they changed Lifestyle to more standard equipment like all the other fifth wheels. 2016 was the final year. Really a shame because they're one of the best fifth wheels made. Maybe they'll change their mind and make them, but for now 2016 are the last ones. We bought a 2016 Lifestyle to get one of the last of the great ones. It's a beautiful trailer - very strong construction, heavy duty frame and axles, high end materials and equipment. If you're interested, there are still a few out there. Just look for the Titan frame and NOT the Titan 2 frame. There are a few left where we got ours - Guaranty RV in Oregon. Johnny Bishop RV also had a nice one on closeout.

Cool 2015 Carriage 40re Experience

We have a 2015 Carriage 40re. It was the one in Missouri referenced in an earlier post. We have had it for just over a year, and we have really enjoyed it. We took it to the Crossroads factory rally last year in Indiana and spent February in Florida with it this year. In addition, we are FT in it.

The quality has been pretty good. We had a problem with the inverter, but it was replaced at the factory rally. In fact, the factory rally's best feature was free onsite service at our campground.

The insulation was good enough that we chose not to skirt this trailer, and we have had no issues through two winters. We have stayed very warm and no freeze ups.

The washer/dryer (a big reason we bought this unit) was put in the front closet, rather than the slideout hall closet. This was a retrofit by the dealer and has really worked great. No freeze up in the water line and we lost very little closet space.

We love the front layout with the sectional. We like the opposing slides in the bedroom, which really opens it up and offers major closet space. Storage in general is great. We replaced the gas stove/oven with an induction range and convection/microwave.

The Carriage is really a Redwood. It is just a little different floor plan and interior decor scheme. We find that it is a big quality step up from our Columbus, especially the quality of the slide mechanisms and the insulation.

Our unit has towed well and lived well, with only some minor glitches. The two year warranty so far has covered these smallish issues.

The dealer has been great (Mid-America RV) and the Crossroads factory has been great. They even helped us with our induction conversion by supplying the induction range top. Jim Izbicki and the factory service staff have been nothing but helpful.

So far, So good.

Our 40re was designed for the w/d to go in the closet slide in the Master Bedroom. However, our dealer put the w/d in the front closet and it works great. It is much less likely to allow for the water line to freeze, and takes up less space, as well.

I think he's asking about the old carriage, which became lifestyle a few years ago. Your new carriage is a completely different trailer- they sold the name.
