Question Demco Hitch

We are just under a year, hoping no more issues pop up, from getting a 5ver and were wondering about the demco hitch. Ive looked at the other more popular brands, but this one seams to have a locking bar behind the jaws that is built in and none of the other ones I've looked at have this built in feature. I was wondering if anyone has/had this brand of 5ver hitch and could comment on it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I would highly recommend checking out the B&W Companion. Simple solid design. NO question if you are hitched or not. Clear bed when removed.

I own one...the guy that suggested a Demco is a hauler for one of the RV trailer companies. One of the upsides is you can pull any 5th wheel and still have the slider work as the hitch has built in rails to slide along the pin box. Other sliders use a 'wedge' or 'key' that attaches to the pin that then turns the slider mechanism - one per 5er.

The hitch is solid, the locking pin in front of the jaws is a great safety item...it is difficult to high-hitch and if/when you do it is very obvious and easy to re-hitch. Other than a high hitch, is is nearly impossible to miss a hitch.

Another upside is not having to worry about over-turning when maneuvering - I got caught in a narrow street with no way out and I turned around in the street with no problem. Told my wife that the hitch just paid for itself.

Customer service is superb!

Downside? It is a bit heavy, compared to the Reese slider I replaced.

I would buy another and recommend them for others!

The reason Cummins, that you hear nothing about them is because we are all out using them!

Tim

Thanks timay, glad to hear from an actual owner. Sounds like you have the slider. Would I'd be better to get a slider or just get a fixed hitch? I currently own a 1 ton with an 8' bed. But who knows what the next truck will have.

No need for a slider with an 8' bed, and I don't think I would plan a hitch for the next truck! Sounds like you have a great TV (tow vehicle)!

A 15 year old truck with 86k is a good truck. Maybe I can make it to 30?
