Disc Brake Conversion

How many of you have done the disc brake conversion? I hear it is the best upgrade of all time but I am curious if anyone has done it and felt no difference or didn't think it was worth the investment. I am very dissatisfied with my current drum setup and have taken all steps to ensure it is doing all it can do.

It IS the best mod you can do. I now stop like no trailer behind me at all. If you are only doing to do one mod this is it. But I would also do a suspension upgrade kit at the same time.

I had a 2008 Citation Supreme 35 fiver that weighed in at #15,500.

It had a factory 4 wheel disc brake setup. It was absolutely amazing how well it stopped.

Nothing also compares.

I was very unsure about that upgrade. Had problems with brakes and wanted to go to air over hydraulic so I upgraded mine. Agree will all here, night and day difference. I will stop my truck.

Another for doing a disc brake mod. Towables have outgrown the 1960's electric/magnet brakes in both weight and length and need to catch up to your tow vehicles brake design. A +/- 1500 buck DIY project that might just save your life

I too installed my own kit. Love it so much I also installed a lighter duty system on my 27' enclosed snowmobile trailer.

Safety first!

To elaborate a little more - pre disc brakes, I could feel the trailer push on the truck under medium to hard braking.

With disc brakes - it never pushes, and depending on my brake controller setting, I can even feel it pull on the truck.

No problems when I need to stop quickly, never feel that pushing sensation with the disc brakes.

Disc Brake Conversion

Had it done last summer and its a winner! Best mod imo is the MorRyde independent suspension. On tap for this summer along with new furniture! Gotta hit the lottery for those two items for sure, big $$$!

Disc Breaks

Done it myself also And included axle flip and angle iron to strengthen frame that was cracked . Look at frame by axle hangers for cracks---usually a rusty line is the tell tail sign of a crack in the frame .I welded a 6" x 3 " x 6' x 3/8 " section of Angle Iron on both sides to re enforce the frame about 8" past the spring hangers . You will not be sorry on the disc break upgrade . the whole disc kit with all the parts from Kodiack was $1835 Little Pricey but worth every penny of it when it comes to a panic stop .
