Discount for New 5th

Good Day 5th Wheel Owners - I am considering moving from a DP to to a 5th wheel. I know when buying a Motorhome, a "standard discount" that needs to be considered is anywhere between 20% ~ 25% off of the MSRP. What is the discount rate for a 5th wheel when buying new.
Thanks
Mark S.

Just be sure the MSRP is the same for different dealers--some have been rumored to jack the list price up to give a bigger discount...

Be sure and get a firm "out the door" price. We thought we had that then the dealer stuck on a state excise tax that was supposed to be paid to the state out of his sale price as a cost of doing business. It was legal to do that but we weren't informed about it before the rig came in.

When I buy a car, truck, or RV I always tell the dealer the ONLY number that matters is the one on my check. I don't care what the dealer does to arrive at that number, but it MUST include everything I'm supposed to pay for. If Dealer A gives me 40% off of MSRP but only gives me a small amount for my tradein, and Dealer B gives me 5% off of MSRP but a great deal on the tradein, how can I tell which is the better deal? Just look at the number on the check.

Many dealers are using that "paperwork fee" baloney. I just tell the dealer that it has to be included in the purchase price of the vehicle. That "state excise tax" is a new one on me.

No rumor, I had one of those so called wholesale dealers try that trick on me. Only problem, I had real MSRP from who else, the manufacturer, which is rare. Anyway, when I questioned them about this difference of thousands of $$, they stopped talking with me, didn't want my business anymore. And I was ordering two new units at one time, so my business was a big deal. Just not with them.

My discount off real MSRP was 33%. If you are unsure, look at the claimed MSRP for similar units from many different dealers nationwide to get an idea of what a realistic MSRP should be. Alternatively, just get out the door quotes from multiple dealers for the model and options you want. Then you decide to pick up the unit or pay to have it delivered.

Holiday World in Houston does this and it's ridiculous. We had a little discussion about it and I also went to the manufacturer I was interested in and told them what they were doing. The manufacturer told me they had informed the dealer to stop doing it but nothing happened. I bought elsewhere and told the dealer what I thought about their business practices. Between them marking up their MSRP and being thousands higher than anyone else I dint see goer hey stay in business.
