For those of you that have been throught the buying experience, what sort of discount have you been able to work out off list price?

With motorhomes it usually will run between 25 to 30 %.

Three weeks ago I just bought a 5th wheel for $13,000 of the list price. It was a close out on a 2011.

The list was $45,000. I got it for $32,000. That would be 30%.

About the same for us on a 5th wheel a couple of years ago.

Most discussions mention a minimum of 25% of list, and many say 30%.
Problem may LIE in the LIST PRICE--some mfgs allow the dealers to make up their own list, very official looking, and then can allow big discounts.
Best thing to do is to settle on one model/mfg, then get several offers from different dealers.
Then, if you have a trade, that will skew the figures.

I recently bought an RV from a dealer in Michigan. Buying out of state saved me $20,000. Well worth the 3000 mile round trip to go get it. Found it on ebay; still under warranty. Couldn't be happier.

Local dealer had the identical trailer for $ 48,000. I bought it for $28,000 from Lakeshore RV in Muskegon. I gave the locals ample opportunity to compete, said they couldn't come close.

I think 30% to 35% off true Manufacturers MSRP is about right.
We just bought at about 33% off MSRP.

In 2010 we almost paid 22% off MFG MSRP. The dealer created their MSRP to reflect a 40% savings. After a little negotiating, we got 30% off the MFG MSRP.

A little comparison shopping is really worthwhile in the RV industry.
