Do all sliding hitchs have a 1/2 inch of slop in them when locked?

In my new job I always use the dealerships F350 (DRW long bed) for moving 5th wheels. It has a nice B&W hitch (a Non slider).
I have never driven a vehicle with a sliding hitch hooked to something more than 200 feet.

A customer had a Reese slider installed in his new Dodge short bed.
That thing had a 1/2 inch of play in the sliding part when locked.
I though it looked like it would bounce around a quite a bit like that.

Are all the sliders like that?

Mine's not like that. Sounds excessive to me...

Compared to the B&W most sliders are sloppy. I personally think the Reese is one of the worst.

I have a '97 16k Reese manual slider that has been on two different trailers and three different trucks with close to 200k miles. No slop in the hitch head or the slider rails/pins/tubes/rollors or anything.
A Reese 5th wheel hitch comes in many different load/draw ratings and styles so its important to know which Reese your talking about.

Hitch Crafters in Lexington NC has a very nice slider hitch. Air and standard. Just got my air hitch from them and it is top notch.
