Do I really need wheel chocks?
Morning everyone...
I own a Grand Design Reflection 29RS and it came with the 4 point auto-leveling system by LCI called Ground Control 3.0. My RV dealer told me I did not need to buy wheel chocks because of this system. I'm pretty sure other RV owners with a similar system still use chocks so I'm wondering is my RV dealer wrong and missing out on selling me 2 x-chocks or is there merit to their claim?
It's parked in my backyard right now and it's level and I get little to no 'rocking' action when I walk around and uncertain if buying x-chocks is going to do anything noticeable.
Thanks in advance.

We have the 4 point leveling and yes, we use wheel chocks every time. If in place for awhile (week to a month) we use x chocks between the wheels.

Not clear on what you are asking....wheel chocks or x-chocks, or both?
I use both, X-chocks take some movement out of the front-to-back motion.
Wheel chocks for no unintended travel once disconnected. Always.

Well, you unhook to level. What if on incline. Might roll away.

ALWAYS use wheel chocks. Put wheel chocks in place BEFORE you unhitch and leave them in place until you re-hitch. Every time, no matter how level. Period end of discussion.
Regarding X-Chocks; this is optional; some folks find they help prevent movement. I have them, they helped quite a bit on my travel trailer. My fiver with six point leveling is pretty stable without them. As others have said, I will put them on if I am staying a week or more. Honestly, if I didn't already have them from my TT days, I wouldn't get them now.

Like rperrie I always use chocks when unhooking. I have X chocks from my last fiver that I find do nothing with my new fiver with 6 pt leveling.

Like above ALWAYS use wheel chocks from before unhitching to after hitching backup. PERIOD. There are videos of trailers going down a slope without chocks.
I use X-Chocks to help stablize, but I don't have an auto level system. SO I can't comment as if good or not in that case. I use the X-Chocks if staying for several days or more.

Wheel chocks always even bwith 6 point leveling. We don't use x-chocks with the system as it's pretty solid as is.

I had Xchops but won't fit on my 3axle Teton. Gave them away. They did help with movement on the previous DRV

To me it's kind of like asking if you need a helmet when riding a motorcycle, do you need a life jacket while you're water skiing. I know some people don't. It's about risk and reducing chances for bad outcomes. Why wouldn't you?
