Dogbone question

We will be a new owner of a Grand design 5er with a 50Amp cord. I have a small 30 to 15A adapter from my trailer that I use to plug in at home and into my generator while boondocking. Will a 50A to 30A adapter work with it or should I try and locate a 50F to 15M Dogbone. I have no idea what the best course of action is (It was easy with the 30A) Any suggestions?

There is no problem stepping 50Amp down to 30Amp and then again to 15Amp, using 2 adapters...we do it at all the time at home to get the RV's fridge cool before a trip (and not using any propane).

Just BE SURE TO NOT EXCEED the capacity of the house circuit. And remember that house circuit might have other stuff on it inside the house...it all adds up.

Also, check to see if the connections cause a GFCI to pop (GFCI is often used on exterior outlet plugs). A GFCI outlet can be sensitive to the cross-over/connection of the 2 legs on the 50Amp cord that is made within the 50Amp to 30Amp adapter.

Best luck

All will usually work. Generally make sure all the blades and sockets are bright and fitting well as each friction connection has the potential for being a loose, resistive or overheating point of contact.
Depending on your setup ground bonding could be an issue with nuisance GFCI tripping.

Be well.

X3. Correct. If you end up flipping the breaker, you are pulling too much on that circuit.
