Dometic Microwave RV oven DOTR16B

My Dometic Microwave, ModelDOTR16B, quit after five years of use. It showed a code "F5". Dometic said no repair is possible. I took the microwave to a local appliance dealer. He diagnosed the problem as a failure of a capacitor. The maker is Chinese with no American distributors. However the part Ningbobicai CBB61 is currently available on eBay for about $10. If you own this particular Dometic microwave, I would do an online search for "CBB61" or just "BB61"and order a spare. The RV model of this particular over is over $1,000. Don't confuse the RV model with the domestic home model which must be vented to the outside. The difference in the price of the two models is on the order of $700.

Hope this info helps someone.

Not true about domestic ones having to be vented to outdoors. We've a Maytag over the range model that did not require venting, which was great as it is on the wall to our attached garage. I installed it myself to replace an interior venting range hood that crapped out.

The Dometic microwave/convection in our Montana is vented to outside (which I prefer), but when it dies, I'll be getting something better (domestic or otherwise).

Our Dometic microwave/convection oven is vented to the outside. We are on our third one under warranty. When it dies and is out of warranty, we will be purchasing something else.

Dometic Microwave DOTR16B and DOTR16BC

The information I have been given regarding the two ovens in the title. The 16B is designed for RVs and vents to the inside. The 16BC is for domestic use and must be vented to the outside. Most counter top microwaves vent to the inside. I don't know if they can be mounted to hang above the stove as mine is in my fifth wheel. I got a reply from someone who said the "C" simply means made in Canada. Please do your own research.

You can usually change where the venting occurs to, just a matter of ducting.

Also, Dometic does NOT make that unit. Look on there, and it says mfgd by xxxxx. LG i've seen a lot.
