As I mentioned in my post that is called stab braking. there is a good art in trl life recent edition that explains the difference between an exhaust brake and a Jake Brake. a bit of trivia. Jacobs did not invent the Jake brake. His father in law Clessie Cummins did (father of the Cummins engine)he gave it to his son in law to market. Clessie came up with it after he was almost run over by a brakeless truck.
