Excuse the question, but, if you're back there putting the Bed Saver bar into place, why cant you check the hitch pin while there? Kinda seems like a non-starter in that respect.

I usually do but that time I didn't, I just assumed it latched. I was only going to move the trailer about 20 feet. I was very careless, I didn't do my normal check before I hit the road because I was only pulling forward. The latch saved me .

That's the key.....although one can check 100 times, it only takes a moment - talking to a neighbor, answering the wife, thinking about your trip - and s--t happens. Hopefully with the bed saver & the second bar to set you'll catch the error before it happens.

Any inexpensive device to help is worth it to me!

Whats important is the latch or the bedsaver will save the day regardless of the different reasons a 5er can drop. Too many new folks think the only way a 5er has/can dropped is operator error whilehooking up.
