Duo Therm Comfort Control Thermostat Issue

My Golden Falcon 5th wheel has a bad Duo Therm Comfort Control Thermostat. I have an awesome RV repairman and he said we could either replace the thermostat (no longer make my model) to the tune of around $600.00 or we could add another thermostat that would run just the furnace and leave the other thermostat run the AC, which I rarely use here in Western Washington. Total cost $195. He even hid the wires so it just looks like two separate thermostats. Thought you folks would like to know there are alternatives to the expensive fixes some repairmen, service centers are charging.

Replaced mine with a Honeywell from Lowes $30.00. It only runs AC on high, and who needs the low speed on the AC.

$600 for a new thermostat??? Was he going to use gold wire to rewire the whole HVAC system?? A thermostat usually has 5-8 wires the size of bell wire and doesn't take an advanced degree to match colors to the screws that are labeled.
