While on the roof of my fiver yesterday washing and cleaning it, I noticed that there appeared to be the heads of nails starting to push back up. I beleive in the construction business the term would be "shinners". They have not punctured through the roof material and I was carefull not to step on them. Can they be flattened back down with a hammer or is this something that should be taken care of by the dealer under warranty. I can hammer them back down but "I" dont want to be the one to damage my roof. Thanks all.

If your unit is still under factory warranty, take it back to the dealer, or call the factory Warranty manager directly! It would not be advisable to attempt to hammer them down, as it would cut the membrane.

Should you choose to repair it yourself, go to Campingworld and buy a rubber roof repair kit. Go up on your roof and with a razor, make a very small surgical cut over the nail, or screw, just big enough to get a screw drive head on it, or a nail set. After reseting the nails, or screws, use the appropriate cleaner/ patch solvent and place about a four inc square of patch material over the cut.

Do not try to reset them thru the EPDM - - you will damage the roof material. If you try to "reset" shinners, 50% of them will pull right back out. It is best to remove them and replace them with ring-shank nails with a touch of glue on them. Then, make the roof repair as Ratracer ably instructed you. And, as he stated, try to get the factory to take care of the repairs first. Good luck with that, but it is worth a try.
