I have a 15,000 AC and my Yahama 3000 runs it just fine. I took it out to use at the house and got a Chinese 3500 from PEP BOYS and it run it also.

do you have anything else on? I had same problem with my EU3000. Turned out I had the fridge on AUTO and the hot water heater on. When the air kicked on, the genset went to overload. The HWH was on electric accidentally. I turned it and the fridge off, and no more problem.

was the motor warmed up 100% before you kicked on the ac? Honda motors have slow reacting automantic chokes that take about 3~5 mins to open up 100% , was the auto idle turned on or off ? Run it at full speed and warm the motor up good , it makes a small differance. I have a Yamaha YG 2800 gen thats 68 lbs and starts my 13500 ducted ac unit.

Also, the converter/charger can draw quite a bit, especially if the batteries are down and it's putting out full charging current...

There was nothing else on. I tried again after letting the a/c run an hour or so, no good.
I bought the gen. locally for a very fair price, they had no problem letting me exchange the 3000 for two 2000's and a parallel hookup (of course, I paid more) but it kicked on the A/c with no problem at all. Plus the two 2000's are so much easier to handle by my self and I can use one of the 2000's by itself real easily. I AM CONVENCED THE TWO 2000'S ARE THE WAY TO GO.
Thanks for all the replys...jreese

Ditto that! They are way easier to carry, and you can only run one when all you are doing is charging batteries or watching movies or whatever.
One will start my AC without voltage drop, as long as everything, including the braker to the converter, is off... but it is apparent that it is working the generator very hard so I don't do it.

We have a Carrier 15,000 AC and the Honda 300UI runs the AC, 2 TV,s,DSS,and Micro all at once, after warmup.
