Was your Keystone in warranty, or how far out? Did they replace or refinish it.

Yes, it was out of warranty. They repainted it, but it's a different paint that was used. It's not anything like what the factory was using. They also put me some new decals on also.

I expect from all your replies, no one has had any luck getting the manufacturer to take any responsibility and extend warranty.

You can add Northwood to the list of faded front caps. We own a 2013 27-5L 5ver the gray front cap started to fade after one year. There are a lot of people on the Northwood Owner's Forum who are not happy with this at all. So far Northwood is refusing to do anything about the problem.

I'll never buy another trailer with a dark colored gel coated fiberglass front or rear cap. Only a painted cap on the next one. Probably limit my choices greatly.

My new Gateway has a full painted front cap, hopefully it will hold up better than the gel coated ones. It is dark brown so I am a little worried.

My 2014 Cedar Creek cap started to fade after about a year. The dealer did the Forest River/Cedar Creek warranty procedure of sanding, buffing, and applying a UV wax sealer. That was two months ago and it is already starting to fade again.
I contacted a guy that has 30 years experience in the fiberglass boat industry and for the past several years operates a fiberglass repair business, he does not recommend paint over gel coat. I was going to get him to paint the cap. He said the paint will eventually flake or peel. He said there are several different gel coat manafacturers and brands, some much better that others. He could have taken my money and painted the cap and I would have been on my way but he gave me the real story on the cheap gel coat used on these caps.
He recommended an experienced person sand ALL the oxidation, buff, UV sealer. THEN keep it waxed at least every two months. MAY keep it looking good for a couple of years.
What a pain.

+1 on 303 Aero Space Protectant. Have been using it since 2012 on our front cap, roof, sides, awning and toppers. The 2011 Keystone Alpine 5er looks new! Now using it on our MH roof and toppers/awning. Best product I have found for anything having the sun beat down on it.

Are not all painted trailers first made like any white trailer, sans graphics?
