On my fifth wheel one of my axles shackles has flipped over. How do I flip it back up????

Without a photo or better description, I would guess you'd have to raise the trailer on that side, remove the shackle bolts and reinstall it correctly. You'll probably have to use a couple of jacks to untension the spring.

All you should need to do is jack up the side of the trailer that has the flipped shackle until almost all weight is off the suspension. Then find a pry bar and force the shackle back into the proper orientation. Let it off the jack and enjoy your trailer!

Also you may want to check your shackles, pins and bushings. They may be worn out. Wet bolt shackle kits are the best. Thicker and can be greased.

I think I know what you are talking about. Had it happen after hitting a severe dip.

After sitting & thinking about it, including the jack it up, pry it, & other forms of violence I settled on the easy way first. Rather than lift the wheel I simply pulled it up on blocks. POW! The shackle popped back where it was supposed to be. Backed off the blocks & we were good to go. Scared the you know what out of the DW who was watching real close.

Oh yeah, what Oldbeek says. Later found out that I had more than a shackle that had popped the wrong way. However that is another story.

Simple really but you will need jacks, floor stands, blocks of wood & a plan starting with taking the weight off the wheels & onto the frame. Once that is done it is a fairly straight forward job of transfering axle weight, doing brake wires etc. & moving axles ontop of or below spring stack.
