If you can smell gas, you probably have a spark problem. Have someone start the furnace while you stand by it. Listen for a tick tick tick sound. That is the spark igniter. If there is no sound, the spark ignitor is not working. If there is the sound of the spark, Try blowing out the exhaust pipe to clear dirt dauber nest.

I would not blow air through the burner flue. You can blow something into the orifice.

Usually one screw is used hold the blower,burner,gas valve and board assy. in the can that the ducting tube are connected. The gas line and wires are to be disconnected first. Bryant RV is a great resource. Mud dobbers put mud on my sail switch, my blower fan ( out of balance) and over the jet hole, before I installed aftermarket screens. If a board is needed, use a Dinasour aftermarket board.

Georgia is famous for dirt daubers. We had dozens of customers a year with nest in the AC fan and in the furnace. We made a tool out of 1/2 inch hard copper. It was about two feet long and we stuck it in the exhaust pipe for the furnace and blew it out. We did hundreds in my fifteen years and never had one stop up the orifice.

I agree, it's a little hard to plug up an orifice with dust when cleaning out the combustion tube since the orifice will then blow gas OUT when you turn it on. Yes, you shouldn't poke things into the orifice for you may scratch it or with extremely 'gorilla' like actions even enlarge or change it's shape, but blowing out spider nests or dauber tubes shouldn't be an issue. These things aren't as delicate as gas mantles! After cleaning, be sure to use insect screens to keep them clear in the future.
