Fishing pole storage ideas
I was wondering if anyone had any new ideas to Storing fishing poles other than in the basement storage. I either have too much stuff or need more storage but currently I don't have enough room to store my pole in the basement safely. I also need to rework my basement storage. It is still a work in progress as we have only one weekend out in our new trailer. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated for both the fishing poles outside the basement and clever solutions to basement storage.
Thanks,

I've read about some guys installing plastic clips on the ceiling of the storage area to hold rods. My rods are in 3 sections and store in a canvas bag, however, the only fish I go for is trout, crappie, bluegill, and infrequently, bass.

I like the idea. Think if you cut some small chucks of high density foam, like the black case padding stuff, and cut a slit for the pole and put a couple of these along the length of the pole it should help protect it from wear and tear inside the pipe while being bounced along the highway.
Another variation would be to cut a couple of circular foam pads, just smaller than the pipe and then cut a few slits around the perimeter to hold several poles. may be it might work, just thinking.
I've got some ishing trips coming up and needed a solution, perhaps this is it!

I bought of a couple of RodSaver Velcro type rod tie down straps made for boats. They are about 2 inches wide and have a larger strap for the butt end of the rods and a smaller one for the tips. I have a solid ceiling in my bay storage so that is where I attached them. I mounted the butt ends of the straps directly across from each other and the smaller straps in between so basically I can support the rod ends with 2 straps. I can put 3 rods on each side. We did a 6K mile trip which included some pretty rough roads a couple of years ago and it held up all the way. Basically, they just hang there out of the way.
One other tip, get some of the rod covers (mesh sheathing) carried by Bass Pro Shops and others. This keeps them from tangling and protects the rods. I have a bass boat with rod storage and have used them for quite awhile. I used to break a guide every now and then putting them in the tubes but with the sheathing covers no more problems.

I store many long narrow items in a 4 inch PVC pipe in the basement storage. Can work for fishing poles, antenna, and other long narrow items.

We store ours on the ceiling using rod holders. Have 6 rods/reels store there and they are just out of the way so we can slide our tray in/out to get to everything else in the basement. It works for us and they are easy to access.
