Agreed! Trimming trees so they allow 13.5' of clearance seems like it should be easy enough for parks to do that are set up for RVs, but not so much....

i have a 35 foot - we found smaller trailer did not provide the room we wanted even with two sliders - it does limit where you can go - i get it in when the sites say 32 max buts it is not easy and have to ask the people across from the space to move cars/ trucks in the beach sites especially - but never had anyone not help - most national parks won't take a 35 - 28-30 is real typical - its a personnel decision - wife and i are over 6 feet and we take our lab everywhere we got so we like the space of the 35 ft-

We have had no issues getting our 40' 5er in at any RV park or state Park yet. I agree with a previous poster, overhanging trees present much more issue than the spots

We found two campgrounds on this past 7K trip where obstacles like 'strategically placed' rocks or a tree at the furthest point on the site kept us from fitting in back in sites. I had to request (and receive) a refund. The trailer's length was fine in both cases but you need to add the length of your truck and turning radius to that equation. Pull throughs will usually help but you also need to get out of any site and in one case we were blocked in until the site hog opposite me decided to move his toad 20 minutes after I asked him. Now, with that gloom and doom said, don't limit yourself to 5er length but always do your homework prior to arriving at a campground. Just be aware that what the person who answers the reservation phone says isn't always reality

Our trailer is 40', the Volvo was 27', we needed 70' sites. We traveled 33 states excluding the northeast and found parks where we went. Just skip the words "Big Rig" and that only means a 45' motorhome. We checked Trailer Life Campground guide and often called the potential campground to verify the size of the sites.

As C.B. says, we have the sized rig for our comfort. We worry about satellite access more than trees. National and State parks were not our targets.
