Fiver battery disconnect switch

Is it a good idea to install a battery disconnect switch for storage ?

2) How important to have two batteries for fiver ? Our 2010 Outback has one. Am concerned could get stuck unable to retrieve slides (4) Do have a wrench to manually crank em in but don't look forward to that job.

Could install a second battery or just carry a fully charged backup. Which would be better ?

One battery IMO just isn't enough for any RV. Your CG shore hook up should supply enough power at any time to operate slides or if boondocking your TV should furnish enough power also

Yes, it's a good idea. My battery has a wing-nut on the terminal. Easy connect and disconnect.

Very important if you DRY CAMP. If you don't, I don't see the need for two batteries, unless you've added a few more 12 volt powered items.

Why, It's not all that hard to do and it's not like you'll be doing it constantly.

I believe installing a second 12 volt battery would be better. This way, it will be charged continuously when connected to shore power.

I agree with Mike, two batteries are not necessary unless you spend a cold night dry camping. One battery will not last from dusk to dawn running an RV furnace in cold weather. In warm weather, no problem with one battery if you are judicial with its use.
Today's RV's have several parasitic drains, disconnecting the battery during storage is required, or, keeping the battery fully charged with a battery minder, either 120VAC or solar powered..
