Flood damaged RV's

I've been looking for a new or lightly used 5er, and I've seen a few from the NY/NJ area with very good prices and ok pix. How much risk is there that one of these was in the hurricane/flood recently? Any experiences? Thanks in advance.

You'll be taking a chance if you buy from a seller near the shoreline areas that were affected by Sandy. If the rig was flooded, expect corrosion in the vehicle frame, mold in the walls, and a compromised electrical system.

There is no way I know of that anyone here can tell you what level of risk there would be, sight unseen. In general, RV's are more or less in a constant state of repair even when you buy them new. Buying a previously damaged unit, particularly water damage, is more than I would want to tackle. YMMV

If the manufacturers used OSB for their flooring under carpet/tile/ wood- you will be in for a mushy floor that will need to be replaced. If you find an old one with particle board, you won't be able to even walk in it. and some black mold, also. don't waste your time

I'm in NJ and most dealerships are not close to the shorelines, where the most heavily damaged areas were. The dealers in my surrounding area are fine, and some even had messages saying as such on their webpages in weeks following the storm.

If it's a used unit from a private seller, I'd want to know where it has been and how long it's been there. Same deal for one sitting on a dealer's lot - when did it arrive, etc.. A qualified 3rd party inspection may help put any fears to rest there if you find one you're really interested in.
