For you adventureous DIY'ers

I just had the cooling unit on my Dometic fridge changed out. I had no idea how to even get the fridge out of the hole but I do now (just a few screws). 2 guys came and pulled the fridge out of the hole and laid it face down on the kitchen floor and 2 1/2 hours later the job was done. They left my warranty and a booklet from RV cooling warehouse. There is a web site and tells you how to determine the proper cooling unit and there are installation instructions on the website to do it yourself.

This is a 2 person job but you can do it yourself if you choose to.

The web site is www.rvcoolingunit.com.

This is just an FYI.

I have changed out two cooling units, first by myself and the second DW assisted. Different RV’s and both worked great.

I did it in my '02 Dutch Star. It worked but in retrospect I should have gotten a household unit installed. After doing the cooling unit install I found that the door gaskets were unavailable so it required buying new doors. We traded rig off before going that far.
