Fresh water air vent

The air vent on my fresh water tank is a hose coming out of the side of the fresh water tank near the top and bent back on itself. The part of the hose bent back on itself is held that way with a zip tie. That seems kind of cheesy. Is that typical?

Yes, very typical. If it were me, I'd remove the hose, buy a longer piece then create a circular loop then run it to the ground. By doing that, you won't lose water as your driving down the road.

In my rig there's enough height difference between the top of the FW tank and the breather tube in the filler housing so as not to allow water loss while moving. IMO- I would want to keep the open end of that vent line somewhere that bugs, spiders, etc can't get in a plug it up. Zip ties are frequently used to hold excess cables out of the way all over these rigs. It may seem poor, but not sure anything really wrong with holding a plastic tube coil in place with a zip tie.

Unless you got a problem, I would not fix it.

Have fun and be safe...
