Dear Abby from Confused in Punta Gorda

What exactly does full body paint mean? I had not paid much attention to the term or specifics. I had assumed it was just a paint job that brought the end caps and side panels into a perfect match. I had also wondered if the graphics were also painted vs decals with the FBP.

Full body paint is just what it says - the entire body of the RV is painted. There is no exposed fiberglass gel coat.

Some RV have painted front caps, some have painted graphics; but if there is exposed gel coat (even if the gel coat is colored), it is not full body paint.

FBP just like every other option is discounted along with the price of the base trailer. When we priced out and ordered our Road Warrior, it was about a 5k addition back two years ago. We opted against it not based on price, but because the schemes available were just to busy and as stated above, too dark and would make the rig harder to cool. If I could have ordered it in a silver and gray upper/lower two tone like you can on a truck, I'd gladly have paid the money but RV paint schemes are just too busy for my taste. That said, the sticker graphics are too busy for me too and I've been tempted to remove some or all of mine. I don't like the "hey, look at me" look of the huge bright swirls...

If I could have my whole unit stripped and a complete white gel coat, I'd do it I. A heartbeat. Of course, that's only if I could afford it😁

I think that is an extraordinarily high price for the option...offer them about 60% of that price (if you want it) and see if they bite. FWIW, that's about what the manufacturers pay for full body paint on a 40+ foot coach that gets wet sanded and at least three coats of clear coat. JMHO
