We have had our 5th wheel for a couple months and have taken it on several short trips. We are having an issue with the recliners opening up during towing. We tried facing them at the wall. They opened up and jammed into the closed slide. What a tangled mess that was. Next time we turned them toward the outside walls. Again they opened up and pushed into the little side table between them and broke the leg off the table. Does anyone else have this problem and more important does anyone have a solution. Or is this a warranty issue with the chairs. Maybe they shouldn't open up so easily. Any suggestions, this is very frustrating.

Not sure if this will work, but I have seen recliners turned to face each other. If you have a small but solid table or other space taking item, to keep them from sliding backwards,,that might work.

In a prior 5-r, we had a recliner that opened easily, several times during travel. I had several bungie cords that I hooked together over the footrest & around the back & that took care of the unassisted openings.

We've had recliners in our fifth wheels and have never had them open during travel. We position them in such a way that they are back to back with the foot rests facing the sides of the slide. Even if they opened during travel, it wouldn't cause a problem, but they haven't. If this is a brand new rig, I'd take it back to the dealer and have them check out the recliners for a defective opening mechanism or replace the recliners.

Our Old coachman had those issues, the fix we had was interestingly simple. the dog leashes we had.... you would take the handle portion of the dog leash and place it around the handle of the recliner, wrap the leash around the chairs and clip it back to the handle... the leash was just the perfect size for the chairs that we had. Seems the Bungee cord idea would also be a great and simple solution.
