I came across a used 4000xl that someone has unplugged all of the wires from under the generator cover. I have the wiring diagram from the Generac site, but most wires from the stator are black (?). There is a widget on the left with 3 prongs. A widget on the top with a 3 wire plug (connected still), 2 wires which I believe go to the brushes, and several colored wires from the panel above and several black wires from the stator that are loose. Can someone take a picture under that cover so maybe I can put things right? Any ideas on this from you electrical engineers out there?
Thanks much,
--Kevin

Does your wiring diagram have colors marked on it? I have a 4000 XL will try to take a look tomorrow to see what I can. Will let you know.

Well, the wires coming from the top box are all colored, but all of them coming from the stator are black. There are four black wires with a round type plug that I assume go to four of the colored wires with the same plug type. There are also several with the flat plug-in connectors, some are insulated, some not. If you could snap a couple of pictures under that cover that would be great. That might be enough to shead light on this mystery.
Thanks much for your help!
Best Regards,
--Kevin
