Hi all I have a 1993 Sandpiper 26ft and I`m having problems with my GFI It tripped and would not reset. I put a new one in, and it lasted about a week before it tripped and will not reset. I have 12 volt power beacuse all of the lights work but no power to the plugs.I`m plugged into my gargage outlet which runs off of 2 20 amp breakers would this cause the GFI to tripp and not reset? any help would be great thanks Mark

I'm not sure how your MH is wired, but you may want to check the 20 amp outlet your MH is plugged into. It may not be grounded. You can use one of those plug-in circuit testers with the trouble lights built in. They are sold at Home Depot, Lowe's or other hardware stores. If you get a clean bill of health at the outlet, move the tester to the other end of the extension cord and plug it in. If it's good to that point, plug the MH into the extension cord and plug the tester into a GFI outlet in the MH. This process should tell you where to start.

You say the garage runs off two 2 amp breakers? What plug are you plugging in, a 50 amp plug into a proper 50 amp socket or somethign else.. Two breakers suggests it's a 240 volt outlet.. if ti's 3 wire, You may have fried most of your electroincs, GFCI included.

I know a guy that plugged into a drier outlet in his garage, Camping World made some money that week.

If you have a 50 amp rig and are using a dogbone to connect each 50 amp leg to seperate 20 amp rececpticles, then you are cross connecting the L1/L2 Nuetral lead circuits which are supposed to remain seperate. That can result in a GFI failure on the supply power panel side (i.e L1 GFI signal returning over L2 nuetral path which creates an unbalance).

Most of the time your GFI also controlls the outlet on the outside of the RV. I would check to see if you have had water penetration into this outlet as this will cause the GFI to trip and not reset.
