Starting to consider a 5th wheel trailer. Would like to keep bed free of hitch and rails. Has anyone used a Reese Goose Box? Reese - Goose Box

Interested in any feedback.

Before deciding on a gooseneck hitch, check with the manufacturer of the trailer you plan to buy. Gooseneck towing supposedly pits extra stress on the pin box of 5th wheel, and may void the warranty of the pin box and/or of the entire frame of the 5th wheel.

Look at B&W turnover ball. Then get the companion 5th wheel hitch that fits in the pocket. Won't be cheap but the bed is free of obstructions

The Goose Box is approved for use on Lippert frames.

I use the Andersen Aluminum Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection with a B&W turnover ball. Only weighs 32lbs. Good for a 24,000 lb 5ver and 4500 lb pin weight.

Lippert frames are built to the coach builders specs. My Lippert frame on our 13000 lb fiver had to be rebuilt and we were using a fifthwheel connection.

I have a Goose Box and I think it's great. I've never towed with a traditional 5th wheel hitch, so I can't compare. Hooking up is just like any ball hitch, can be a problem if your not aligned. I've figured what to look for in my rear view mirror and can do it my self. Most times.

Andersen best hitch going without spending 2500 + on an air ride .

I have rebuild the last 2 5th wheel front frames. The tubing used on modern units has no strength and I use a 3/4 ton truck. Can't imagine using a dually and a GN.
